Freedom Guy Kit

$14.99

๐Ÿ•๏ธ Freedom Guy Kit

Lock the base. Guy it where you need it.

The Freedom Guy Kit is a set of four one-piece guy rings plus eight line tensioners for the GigaParts Explorer POTA20 mast. Pair it with the Freedom Spike to lock down the base of your mast, add support higher up when your antenna calls for it, and guy from the very top.

Slip the rings on as you extend the mast. Each one slides down and stops on its own at the section it's sized for. No clips, no hinges, nothing to snap.

๐Ÿ”‘ Why Guy the Base

A ground spike holds your mast in place, but on its own it acts like a hinge. With something hanging off the top, the mast can lever against the spike, pry itself up, or break the mount. Three short guy lines at the base ring spread that load out so it isn't all sitting on the spike, and the mast stays put when it's fully extended with a load on it.

Guying higher up is a different job. That's about keeping the mast from bending, and where you want it depends on what you're putting up there. That's why the kit gives you more than one height.

๐Ÿ“ What Each Ring Does

Ring Where it sits What it's for
POTA20-1 16 in (1.3 ft) The base ring. Short guys here lock the base and take the load off the spike. Use it every time.
POTA20-2 5 ft Low support against bending, for setups with a little more going on.
POTA20-3 13 ft 4 in Mid-mast support, two thirds of the way up. A good spot to guy and hang a feedpoint or other weight.
POTA20-4 20 ft, at the tip Top guy point, with spare holes for clipping on a wire end or hanging an antenna with a small carabiner.

Heights are measured from the bottom of the mast. Each ring finds its own spot as you extend, stopping at the section joint it is sized for.

๐Ÿงญ Three or Four Guys, Your Call

Each ring has six holes, laid out so you can run four guys at 90 degrees or a three-way spread. Use one ring or all four. The spare holes are there for clipping gear on.

The eight tensioners cover two levels of three with spares, or two full levels of four. Most setups are the base ring plus one level higher up.

โ˜€๏ธ Printed in Outdoor-Grade ASA

Solid one-piece rings printed in ASA, chosen for sun, heat, and real field use. It holds up better than the PETG and PLA you'll usually see on printed mast parts, especially on gear that rides in a hot car or sits in direct sun.

๐Ÿ”น What's Included

  • 4 guy rings: POTA20-1 (16 in), POTA20-2 (5 ft), POTA20-3 (13 ft 4 in), POTA20-4 (tip)
  • 8 line tensioners

๐Ÿงต Cord and Stakes (Not Included)

Bring your own guy line so you can cut it to whatever lengths your site needs. The rings and tensioners take cord up to 4 mm, which covers standard 550 paracord.

Thinner line in the 2 to 3 mm range works just as well and is what we run in the field. It is lighter, packs smaller, and there is plenty of strength there for holding up a mast.

Knot tip: with thin cord, finish the end with a figure-eight stopper rather than a simple overhand so it can't pull back through the tensioner. On heavier 4 mm cord a single overhand is plenty.

โš ๏ธ Field Notes

  • Built for the GigaParts Explorer POTA20, and designed to pair with the Freedom Spike POTA20.
  • This is light-duty mast support. It's ideal for wire antennas. If you're hanging hardware up top, guy it properly.
  • Snug your guys, don't crank them. Overtightening adds compression to the thin upper sections.
  • Always check overhead clearance before raising a carbon fiber mast.
