If you're running a NomadPort, yes. The passthrough is designed to be open when your duct is connected — but closed when it's not. The NomadCap is the close. Without it, you've got a permanent hole in your tent.
It's the piece that makes your whole system complete.

NomadCap is a cover accessory. It is not a heater, not a combustion or exhaust component, and not a certified safety device. It does not make any heater safe to run in or near an enclosed space.
- Never cover the passthrough while a heater is connected or running. NomadCap is for use when the duct is disconnected and the heater is off and cool.
- Always follow your heater manufacturer's instructions.
- Keep heater exhaust outside the tent and away from fabric.
- Maintain proper ventilation and run a working carbon monoxide detector any time a heater is used in or near an enclosed space.
- Contains strong neodymium magnets. Keep away from children, pacemakers, and other medical devices.
- Adult installation and supervision required.
